🔒 Quick Summary: pause is 100% on-device private. Your personal habit logs, timestamps, notes, and triggers stay exclusively on your local device. We never sell, monetize, or transmit your private health data.
1. Introduction
Welcome to pause ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the pause mobile application ("App").
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Data Stored Locally on Your Device
All personal data is stored locally on your device using browser localStorage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to share it.
We store the following locally:
- Smoking Logs: Date, time, intensity, and trigger tags for each cigarette logged
- App Settings: Theme preferences, notification settings, daily limits, currency, time format
- Wave Attempts: Records of your attempts to resist smoking cravings
- Trigger Tags: Custom triggers you create to identify smoking patterns
- Progress Photos: Optional photos you take to track your journey
- App Preferences: UI customization, watch style, and other personal settings
Important: This data is stored entirely on your device. We cannot access, retrieve, or view this data. If you clear your browser data or uninstall the App, this information will be permanently deleted.
2.2 Anonymous Analytics Data
We use PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics platform, to collect anonymous usage data. This helps us understand how the App is used and where we can improve.
Analytics data includes:
- Feature usage patterns (e.g., which features you use most)
- App performance metrics (load times, errors)
- Session duration and navigation patterns
- Anonymous device information (device type, OS version, screen size)
What we do NOT collect:
- Your name, email, or any personal identifiers
- Your smoking logs or personal health data
- Location data
- Photos or media from your device
- Contacts or social network information
- Payment or financial information
2.3 Session Recordings
We use PostHog's session recording feature to understand user interactions. These recordings:
- Mask all text input fields (no personal data visible)
- Capture only UI interactions (taps, scrolls, navigation)
- Are used solely for improving user experience
- Are stored securely on PostHog's servers
- Are automatically deleted after 30 days
3. How We Use Information
3.1 Local Data
Your locally stored data is used solely to:
- Provide app functionality (tracking, statistics, reminders)
- Personalize your experience (themes, settings)
- Enable offline functionality
